Painter Mark Lavatelli exhibited his work in the Southwest in the 1980’s and subsequently in New York and nationally. Made mainly with the ancient medium of encaustic, Lavatelli’s paintings, prints, and installations demonstrate a love of nature, especially trees, and concern for the environment. Lavatelli is Professor Emeritus of Art at Medaille College. He is an art writer and is co-author of Richard Diebenkorn in New Mexico, published by the Museum of New Mexico Press.
